LAST ACT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN KRISTIANSTAD.

An exciting CIK-FIA European Championship has come to its final act. This weekend, in fact, European kart racing is meeting in Kristianstad (S) for the last round of a season which has been getting more and more thrilling race after race. The last event is going to be as interesting as the previous ones, in all the four categories involved. The venue of the appointment is the Asum Ring International Circuit, a 1,231-metre long track set in the province of Scania, in the plains of southern Sweden. The programme in Kristianstad is rich for all the categories taking part in the Championship, which have alternated in the six, previous appointments and that are all taking part in the same event only this time, this season. Qualifying Practice was today their first appointment with the stopwatch, before the series of 33 heats which began in the evening, will continue tomorrow and will finish on Sunday morning, before the Finals.

CHALLENGES IN QUALIFYING.
Qualifying full of surprises, with top drivers often in troubles. In KZ an unforeseen difficulty prevented the Italian Paolo De Conto (CRG-TM-Bridgestone), the undisputed leader of the category, from going on track for qualifying on time. Best performance for the Dutch Marijn Kremers (BirelArt-TM) in 49”995, ahead of the Czech Patrik Hajek (Kosmic-Vortex) and the French Jeremy Iglesias (Formula K-TM). In KZ2, too, today’s outcome put the standings upside down: the Swiss Jean Luyet (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) was the best with 50”211, ahead of the Italian Francesco Celenta (Praga-TM) and the French Tom Leuillet (Sodi-TM). Tough weekend for all the top drivers as the German Leon Köhler: he placed only 30th. In OK, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (Zanardi-Parilla-LeCont) set the best time with 51”308, beating into second position the Swedish Noah Milel (Kosmic-Vortex). Third is the Russian Pavel Bulantsev (Tony Kart-Vortex), while the Moroccan Sami Taoufik (FA Kart-Vortex) and the Spanish Pedro Hiltbrand (Tony Kart-Vortex), the two top drivers of the category, follow in 4th and and in 8th position. After the OKJ qualifying, the championship leader – the English Jonny Edgar (Exprit-TM-Vega) – knows that he will have to cope with new opponents such as the German Hugo Sasse (CRG-Parilla), who set the best time in 52”371. Edgar is second ahead of the English Zak O’Sullivan (FA Kart-Vortex). In the evening, the first winners of the heats were Goldstein (Kosmic-Parilla) and Thompson (FA Kart-Vortex).

THE EUROPEAN TITLES LIVE ON VIDEO.

The appointment is on Sunday 30th July, when the two web channels cikfiachampionship.com and cikfia.tv will stream – from 10:25am – the last heats and then the Finals.
